The small town of Clever, Mo, is located just 12 miles SouthWest of Springfield, 9 miles west of Nixa, and 5 miles south of Republic. Established in the early 1900, the grocery store owner and postmaster surveyed his customers to find a name for this up and coming town, and one suggested the name "Clever" because the young community's residents were friendly and wise. This friendly environment still exists in the form of a vibrant community and seasonal events.
Tucked into rolling hills and woodlands, Clever is located on the Springfield Plateau and consists of a variety of farms and pastures, in addition to several event venues hosting weddings and other gatherings, and taking advantage of the expansive views. This terrain also provides ample opportunities for homes with acreage, or plots for development, while still providing access to larger nearby towns and amenities. Clever also has its share of resources, from grocery stores to restaurants, and shopping to local businesses, most of which are located on or near W Veterans Blvd, for easy accessibility.
Clever is one of the quieter towns in the Greater Springfield area, yet it still has a full k-12 school system, library, city park, and dynamic local sports scene. It's easy to see why they chose the motto for the city of Clever, "Where it just gets better every day!"
